Are Christian Children being beheaded in ISIS?

This weekend I was relaxing at a friends house in her hot tub. One of the 2 other gals began to talk about a facebook post she had seen about Children being beheaded because the parents would not renounce Christ and convert to their religion.

Though it sounded horrific I wanted to write about it. I went online to search for the specific story but I came across the one posted.  I went to another site and seen graphic images of dead children on the ground and throats being slit. One that stood out was the woman whom they held her head back, slit her throat and let it all drain into a bowl, and showing beheaded children.

Some of the pictures were of Syria, and other parts controlled by ISIS. this site is gruesome and the opinions of the page are that this is all going on and they need help.

We are so quick to take everything at face value before we get the facts. I came across another site that asked the question if this was really happening. Fact Checker  says that it could be happening but most of the Christians have already fled and some are still in the process. they also argued that there are no pictures to prove it and they have not heard of any stories from the victims. They did point out that the picture with the child that had guns to its head was from Yemen and is not part of any ISIS' doing.

I went to as many sites as possible to get the truth. I came across this site. The gentleman noted that children are being beheaded and their heads are being put on sticks and carried through town. Also their wives are being taken as wives for the militants and they are raped and killed for not converting. this is being done even though they are paying a tax for not converting to the Islamic faith.

Is this cogent? I still have not made a decision. I believe it more than I do not. As I read the troller's comments it stated that nothing is being done except that Obama is furnishing the weapons for ISIS militants.

Death by gunfire!

I was at Starbuck's in the Barnes and Noble book store located in the mall (building inception). I decided to look for my next cogent/fallacious story in the Deseret News. I wanted to get knee deep in the paper to find a story that normally would not be seen. But who am I kidding, I found a great story on the front page.

Ronnie Lee Garner was executed by firing squad in 2010. though death by firing squad was outlawed in 2004. those who were on death row already had the option on how they wanted to die. Ronnie picked firing squad.

The article interviews Lt. Jeff Meyers; he took them to the chair that Ronnie was shot in. Four bullet holes aimed straight for his heart. the fifth one was a blank. I always thought it was the other way around. that it was four blanks and one actual bullet. in the interview Meyers says that the death by firing squad could come back and that it seem to be a more humane way to execute. Why? Meyers says its fast and you don't have to wonder if the inmate is done yet. Aside from using lethal injection or the chair.

It was talked about that Utah should do away with the death penalty altogether. this would save money on appeals and other costs. They did not mention the cost of the free dental, healthcare, food, lodging.

I was watching a video called "Harvest America" and as the pastor talked he mentioned Lana Del Rey and how she said she wanted to die. Immediately I was intrigued.

I went onto the internet to read about it. as I began looking I noticed other articles about her saying she had never said she wanted to die. This made me exited; I love the he said she said banter.

After little research I came across something great. it was the recording of the interview. Now it is cogent that she says she wants to die because she does not want to have to do "this" anymore.
"if it wasn't that way, I wouldn't say it" she said. I listened to it many times to see if she meant it. I think she meant it. However, she does not sound like she is about to carry her death out any time soon.

The fallacious part of this is her thought process. the fact that she is thinking that way is cogent but her thought process is not. though being dead I suppose would enable her to not have to deal with life. but, if you are sick of your life it is possible to change it.

Integrating immigrants would be impossible without any form of amnesty. No state in America can grant amnesty to illegal immigrants because this is a federal matter. Though the laws of immigration is not forced in America we need to address the issue of immigration. The US needs to find a solution whether it be a state or federal problem. Integration was proposed as one way to intertwine illegal immigrants into society state by state. How would that work?

Though the laws about immigration are not strictly enforced, they still apply in that one cannot be here without a green card or work visa legally. The argument had no solutions on bypassing immigration to achieve integration.  According to federal law, green cards and work visas are a federal matter and states cannot manipulate the rules to fit their needs. Illegal immigrants will not be able to dodge deportation without going through the proper channels.

This leads to the question why; instead of being an oppressed country, cannot illegal immigrants stand for what they believe according to their culture?

In Egypt, on January 18, 2011, Asmaa Mahfouz, a 26 year old Egyptian woman posted a video to Youtube and Facebook. She called out Egyptian citizens to join a protest at Tharir Square. The internet is a great tool for social media. Changes can be made from the inside of any country. This example shows that if Asmaa Mahfouz can stand up for her beliefs so can others.

Even though there is no solution, options are available.  Tough integration laws should consist of enforcing federal immigration laws state by state. If America does not enforce the federal law, over time immigration services will drain our countries resources. What laws can states pass that would give amnesty without a green card or work visa? Do those states not run the risk of being sued for bypassing federal law?

It is proposed that Immigrants pursue a green card or work visa legally before they cross United States borders. While this is being done, we as a state should enforce immigration laws which in turn would lead to legal integration.

There are solutions to every problem and immigration has many. The US should enforce all federal laws before trying to bypass the government and create new state laws. Every country has the power to stand for their beliefs and homeland. Hopper from a Bug’s life states how it can be done and Asmaa Mahfouz used social media to do it. Though our country is born of immigrants fleeing tyranny it also has been established with laws that need to be followed. Immigrants should pursue legality in the states in a correct manor and that is by abiding by federal law.

41 year old man arrested for sexual conduct with 16 year old girl

I was online reading the St. George news and came across a story of a 41 year old man who was caught in a hotel room with a 16 year old girl. The girl claimed to have sexual intercourse with the man. However, he admitted to sexual conduct but not intercourse.

Obviously someone is lying. There is truth, the being together in a hotel together and that she was a runaway. he was renting the room for her. I have more questions than answers to whether who is telling the truth if they ever slept together.

The best part of the story are the comments at the bottom. The first one reminds me of the first day of class and learning about trollers. They only have their opinions.

First Constructive

Drug Testing for state assistance in Utah should be mandatory.
Tax payer have a right to know where their money is going. They should also have a say whether a standard should be set to distribute the tax payer’s money. This is why Utah should issue mandatory drug testing for state assistance. There is a bill that requires a questionnaire. However, it does not cover all forms of assistance available. The testing can have positive effects in the stability and recovery for applicants. Here are some arguments to why I think this should be mandatory.

Tax payers of Utah want to know their money that is paid to the government, is being used to better our state and country.  We as a state and taxpayers have the right to request that all applicants for state assistance. Whether it be Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Medicaid, Food stamps, CHIP, or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

This quote sums up why the testing should be enforced. Hard working people pay taxes and since that is mandatory then we should expect they would want to have a say in where the money goes. Those who do receive assistance are not being targeted in a bad way, they are being held accountable for using state aid the way it was intended. There are pros on both sides. On the states side this will help to ensure that any money disbursed is likely to go toward its intended use. For the applicant it will encourage them to not get involved or to stop drug use. The meaning of state assistance it to help those in need get by until a job is found and to help some become self-sufficient. It’s been reported that about 46.3 million people on welfare have traded food stamps to purchase drugs and other illegal possessions. If tested positive this will not deny the children from receiving assistance. It would just have to be done another way. As in, an employee of the state would have to literally provide food to the home.

There is a bill called HB 155 that requires an applicant to fill out a questionnaire to see if they need to be drug tested to receive TANF. This is because it is cash assistance and can be withdrawn as soon as it is given and used for anything with no record as to where it was spent. It is supposed to help pay bills, rent, groceries, etc. until a stable paying job can be found. This is not enough. Food stamps can also be sold for cash. Medicaid cannot be sold, however, it can be used to get a prescription for drugs that can be sold.

Not all recipients of state assistance are on drugs and no child should have to go hungry because their parents cannot pass a drug test. However, testing can be used to help whoever may be addicted to drugs. It can provide treatment and help them become self-sufficient. About forty-six million people sell their food stamps for money to purchase drugs or other illegal contraband. There is a bill called the HB 155 that provides a questionnaire for applicants of TANF (cash assistance) that screens whether a person should be tested or not. This is not good enough because it does not cover food stamps, Medicaid, or SNAP.
